Joe Minici… the Nursery Cannon King filmed by David Larson of Winipeg Canada in 2018. David was in Australia for his nephew’s wedding and was checking out the local billiards scene. He made contact with Billiards Australia only to find Peter Tankard and Jason Colebrook were in England playing in the world Matchplay; so they asked me to show David some Aussie hospitality. I arranged a little get together at Blacktown Workers Club (in full tournament dress code) with top referee, Warren Ackary, Joe Minici and myself.
When I invited Joe, he said “well I don’t know if I can make it as I am preparing for a tournament & I’m only playing snooker ATM; but I’ll see! Sure enough Joe shows up (early) and proceeds to WOW!!! our visitor from the Winnipeg Veterans English Billiards League. Half way through the nursery cannon play David has the presence of mind to whip out his mobile phone camera to record Joe…! He made about a 150 break in a few minutes whilst talking us through it!
